The Role of Family Emotional Atmosphere and Attachment Styles in Alexithymia of Married People

Background: The ability to create and maintain a satisfying relationship in the marital life requires an understanding of attachment styles, family’s emotional atmosphere, recognizing expressing mutual emotions, accepting spouse’s emotions. This study aimed examine role family atmosphere styles predicting alexithymia married people. Methods: predictive correlational was conducted on sample men women with communication problems who were referred counseling centers District 2 Tehran Municipality 2021. subjects included 400 selected by stratified proportional sampling. data collected Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), Family Emotional Climate Questionnaire, Adult Attachment (AAS) analyzed using correlation coefficient test multiple regression analysis SPSS software, version 22. Results: results showed that secure avoidant negatively correlated (r=0.38) alexithymia. Furthermore, anxious/ambivalent style positively (r=0.38). (r=0.68) (P<0.01). Moreover, 46.6% variances explained (R2=0.466).
